Boosting the Economy

The California trucking industry accounts for one-third of jobs in California.

The California Trucking Industry is a crucial part of fueling our economic success by providing jobs and transporting goods in and out of the state.

In 2018, one out of every 21 jobs in California were in the trucking industry. That means there were more than 717,840 jobs with an average salary of $54,751 with more than 77,470 trucking companies. The total trucking industry wages paid in California in 2018 exceeded $39.3 billion.

In addition to providing jobs, nearly 80 percent of communities in California depend exclusively on the trucking industry to transport millions of dollars in goods and commerce.

Each hour, approximately $4.7 million worth of goods is transported on the Interstate 80 corridor, a number that increased during the busy holiday season.
