Contributing to a Clean Environment
The California trucking industry is committed to protecting the environment.
California's Trucking Industry is continually adapting and evolving, embracing new energy and environmental efficiencies even while increasing the number of miles driven.
Through partnerships in programs like the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay Transport Partnership, California's trucking industry is hard at work meticulously tracking greenhouse gas emissions and adopting new solutions to reduce them.
In 2014, trucks consumed 97 billion fewer gallons of fuel than passenger vehicles in the U.S. and accounted for just 17 percent of the total highway transportation fuel consumed.
Through the adoption of innovative solutions, the state’s trucking system is becoming more efficient, advancing important environmental objectives and enhancing the state’s economic position.
